all about garage door screen doors

The attached garage on my home isn't used as a typical garage. Instead, it is used as an extension of our family room. Since we have six kids living in our not-so-big house, we have worked to transform the garage into a game room of sorts. One thing that I struggled with was keeping the garage door closed in the evenings to keep the bugs from coming in. This problem was solved with the installation of a garage door screen door. Find out all about garage door screen doors right here on my blog. You will find out what types you have to choose from and how to go about installing them.

Three Symptoms That Your Garage Door Needs Professional Care

You and your family rely on your garage door to not only give access to your home when it's needed, but to also provide a high degree of security. It can only provide these two attributes when it's working correctly, which means that it's important to keep a watchful eye out for signs that the door needs repair. Generally, working on your own garage door isn't advisable, as doing so carries a risk of injury. Instead, it's beneficial to find a garage door repair service in your community that can send a technician to your home to get the work done safely and properly. Here are three signs that it's time to hire someone.

Excessive Spring Noise

It's common for your garage door to create a variety of noises during its operation, but if you notice that the springs mounted directly above the door are sounding excessively noisy, it's time to get a professional to look at the issue. Whether the spring creaks loudly during use or has made a loud "bang" noise, it's possible that the spring is about to break or has already broken. In either case, working around the area is dangerous without proper training, given that the spring is under high pressure. A trained technician will be able to determine the cause of the issue and ensure your door will work safely.

Uneven Closure

When a garage door is working properly, it should close so its bottom trim is even with the ground. If you've noticed that either side of the door is hitting the ground first, it's an indicator that some of the individual panels might be loose or that there's another alignment problem with the door. Attempting to diagnose and fix the issue yourself can lead to further complications. It's better to have a technician look at the problem; the solution could be as simple as tightening the bolts that hold the hinges that link different panels, but at least you'll know the job has been done correctly.

Rollers Off The Track

If your door is suddenly difficult to operate, check to see if one or more of the rollers has slipped off the track. If so, stop attempting to use the door as further use could pull the door fully off its tracks and cause a major problem. Call a technician like those at Able Door Company right away. He or she will be able to get the errant roller back in line with the others without risking further damage to your door.
